What is 90-16?
90-16 is a citizen initiated grass roots campaign to privately fund the eliminated teaching and counseling positions. Team 90-16 is seeking donations from community members to accomplish this goal. The 90-16 campaign has the support of the School system but is not organized or coordinated by the School administration or the School board.
History
• Due to reduced state and property tax revenue available to the schools, Zionsville schools have had to eliminate 16 full-time teaching positions for next year, affecting at least 21 teachers and counselors.
• The schools are also not replacing any teachers that retire or leave, affecting 3-6 more positions this year and every year thereafter.
• Student enrollment has grown larger every year.

How does this impact our community?
• Everyone benefits from quality education. Research shows that education improves the national and state economy, increases civic participation, lowers crime and health care costs, and results in greater earning power.*
• School quality can have a large effect on property values**. ZCS has been in the top 5 best schools in the state for a number of years and has an excellent reputation nationally. However, with more students and fewer teachers, the ability to maintain high quality education in Zionsville has been seriously compromised.
• According to the National Association of REALTORS®, 27% of home buyers listed school quality as deciding factors in their home purchase.***
